In this game, you are the bearded leader of a small dwarf family which lives in a little cave in the mountains. Together, you cultivate the forest in front of your cave and dig deeper into the mountain. You furnish the caves as dwellings for your offspring as well as working spaces for small enterprises.

It's up to you how much ore you want to mine. You will need it to forge weapons , that allow you to go on expeditions to gain bonus items and actions. While digging through the mountain, you may come across water sources and find ore and ruby mines that help you increase your wealth. Right in front of your cave, you can increase your wealth even further with agriculture: you can cut down the forest to sow fields and fence in pastures to hold your animals. In the end, the player with the most efficiently developed home board will win the game.

Play the solo variant of this game to make yourself familiar with the 48 different furnishing tiles for your cave.

Caverna

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I finally, finally own Caverna. I love this game. Mostly worker placement with some tile placement elements, this game provides lots of decisions and choices.

Caverna: The Cave Farmers

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I like the game, a lot! Game is complex without a huge rulebook. A real challenge.

This is a really great game. It's simple enough to learn, but there are so many options/ways to play. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Just a Dwarf on the... Farm?

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This game is amazing and imo a step up from Agricola.

Agricola + Options - Chance = Caverna

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

If you liked Agricola, you'll definitely like Caverna. It's very similar in gameplay, but it removes some of the chance elements in Agricola and adds so many options that you may find yourself feeling decision paralysis. Great game if you're into the classic Eurogame style

Great game!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Caverna is a worker placement game with various action options. It is possible to get resources , take care of his farm , expand your home and go on quests to brings rewards. A great game for 5 players , but a little slow . The only problem is having to arrange different types of resources between turns. If you like Agricola, you will love this game!

Excellent game. One of the best out there.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

There are aspects of this game that are strictly better than Agricola, but then there are aspects of Agricola that I prefer over this game. That said, it plays differently enough from Agricola that I wouldn't say one replaces the other and at this point I still think I prefer Agricola a bit. I will have to play Caverna a good deal more before I make up my mind on which one I feel is better.
