Immense fields of crops soak up the bright sun on a hot day in the South. Over the next hill, we see the drifting line of smoke coming off the newfangled steam locomotive as it chugs its way to the depot. Now that the railroad has finally made it to town, endless quantities of goods will only take a day to be carried to the ports for shipment to the North and Europe. Business is booming in the South. Hooray for progress!
In Southern Rails, 3-5 players compete to win shares of stock in one of six railroads. Once a player owns a share, they can build a track to increase its value. Over four scoring rounds, points will be awarded according to which railroads lead in various categories. However, a railroad must rise above its competitors, because sharing the lead in a category is worth nothing. The player with the most points at the end of the game will be the winner. Collect stock, extend your network, and try to outmaneuver your opponents to become the railway baron of the Southern Rails!
