The Pillbug moves one space at a time, but also has a special ability it may use instead of moving, which allows it to move to an adjacent piece (friendly or enemy) to another empty space adjacent to itself. This special ability makes the Pillbug a formidable defensive and offensive bug.
Note: This is not compatible with the standard version of Hive, as the tiles are not the same size.

Almost necessary
Only really necessary if you play the base game too much like me. Base game becomes almost solvable with certain strategies. This expansion nukes those strategies and makes it much harder to solve.

More bugs!
The pillbug expansion to the Hive Pocket game is a great expansion that completes an already wonderful, portable, game.

A excellent expansion to complete the set
A quality expansion to a great game. The pocket edition already comes with the first two expansions. Thepillbug set adds a new mechanic to a good game and doesn't feel like it bogs the rules at all.

Great tweak to a great game
Hive is a wonderful brain exercise. This expansion adds some new cerebral workouts, so if you like Hive, you'll like this.
