Good supplement for forgotten realms campaigns.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Forgotten realms have always been my favorite world for D&D campaigns and the sword coast is always one of the more intriguing areas to set adventures and I think this supplement does a good job of laying it out for fifth edition.

Great for campaign prep and classic D&D fun, but light on mechanics

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

To begin, I really enjoy this book as a supplemental text to my D&D games. There are some great additions to spells and class subtypes to spice up the core game experience. The Sword Coast, of course, is an excellent setting for campaigns and those who are drawn in by the established D&D lore will likely love this book. As to be expected there is plenty of high quality art to captivate and inspire, and the way the book is written and organized make it an easy and fun read. Furthermore, this text gives good guidance for players who may be looking to find new spins on old character archetype or who are wanting to really create a meaty backstory. However, DM's who make their own settings to play in may find difficulty finding a lot of use out of this book as though it is great on lore and fluff it is light on mechanics. This book is not an adventure path, it is not a huge expansion or source book, it is a campaign setting and should really be used as a supplement at the table and not much else, but to it's credit it knows what it is. To the buyer who is looking for something to add more depth to the game, this is not the book for you. For someone who is really wanting to dig into the lore and setting of the Sword Coasts, or add some spice to an adventure path, like Dungeon of the Mad Mage or Dragon Heist this is worth the buy.

This handy book can give you a boost as a player or a DM. This explains the history, towns, lore, and places of the Sword coast. I never bought it but I read it! Great for new or old players or DMs. You did it again mini market!
