Tyrants - the first expansion for Epic Card Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This review is the same one that I will write for all Tyrants expansions packs. Tyrants was the first expansion to Epic Card Game. While the game is very good and plays nicely with the core set only, some more cards are needed to make it really shine, adding diversity and strategies. Each of the packs is focused on a Tyrant from each of the alignments - Draka/Wild, Raxxa/Evil, Markus/Good, Helion/Sage. The expansion does not add mechanics, but they make the game better and more thematic. It is important to note that you get cards for all the four alignments here; so I'd advise to buy all four packs as a bundle. I really think this is how they should have been sold, but since they are separate, better to buy them all. If you like to play draft, one of each is enough; if you'd like constructed, you'll need three of each for the full constructed format. But I play a casual, unofficial 40-45 constructed format with two copies of each, so two copies of each are enough. If you like Epic, I recommend getting Tyrants as well as Uprising and specially Pantheon - which I think is the best expansion and adds a new format too.
