Lost Ruins of Arnak: The Missing Expedition Expansion

I'm excited for the new characters and a means to play as co-op instead of head-to-head.

The second expansion in the series gives us two more asymmetric player powers, more content and a campaign mode. Two more player powers is the best part of the expansion and allows you to play very differently. I have not played the campaign yet, will have to get back to you on that. But if you want more player options, then definitely get the game.

I have yet to play this expansion yet but I can tell it will be nothing short of amazing! Reading through the set-up of the first chapter already tells me all I need to know. Each chapter will be very different and they make it so that it doesn’t just feel like you are playing the base game 6 times with a point goal. I am also excited to try out the 2 new leaders!

You get two new expedition leaders, Mechanic and Journalist, as well as the ability to create “simple” leaders, Prospector and Traveler, just using the components from the base game. This allows you to have access to the variable powers introduced in Expedition Leaders expansion in case you skipped that one (you want to get that one). Then, you have lots of cards and two new research tracks to add you your base game AND a campaign to play. Excellent expansion. I recommend getting both!

If you are a solo gamer and a fan of Lost Ruins of Arnak, this is a must have expansion!

The new leaders are interesting and pose new mechanics to learn how to maximize. The campaign adds to the setup time, so it is harder to be a weeknight game, but the story is fun to play along with, even after doing the online campaign released initially.

Under the category of “more stuff”, this expansion gives you a lot of things you like about the game. If you like Lost ruins of Arnak, you’ll want the expansion.
